I’ve recently made a market map of Web3 social and wanted to share it with you here.
Twitter switching to X and even launching an open source protocol - change is in the air. It seems like the right time to have another look into Web3 Social.
We could be the start of an entirely new paradigm for social media and online communication that puts users back in charge.
We dug in and created a market map of the Web3 social tech stack.
The Web3 Social tech stack is starting to come together. Lens and Farcaster both galvanised an ecosystem with a diverse set of applications.
Users can already choose between applications that look more like X, Youtube, Reddit etc. while accessing the same shared social graph on both Lens and Farcaster.
There are a few remaining challenges that need to be overcome for mass adoption to happen:
Reaching a critical mass of adoption.
Fixing remaining usability issues.
Producing 10x better social experiences.
In the future, users will be able to bring their entire digital footprint, connections, and preferences with them wherever they go.
If you find this interesting, I’d appreciate if you could help boost it on LinkedIn and Twitter.
